Educators from around the country gathered in Houston Nov. 5-8 for Forum 2008. Discussion topics spanned many issues, including the challenges of admissions in the 21st century and the work of College Board Advocacy initiatives regarding modern challenges in education. Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig addressed the group, thanking participants for their efforts to improve youth education and expressing that “an improved education for our youth will make our country better.” Following a screening of “The Great Debaters,” a large Forum audience was treated to a live debate by students from Wiley College. These energetic sessions were relevant to the work we do every day. We were also pleased to recognize four exceptional
writing teachers with Bob Costas Grants for
the Teaching of Writing and to hear the students
from the Advisory Panel on Student Concerns.
I invite you to join the brightest minds in education and continue these discussions at the 2009 New England Regional Forum, where we will address the opportunities, challenges and concerns unique to our region. Make your plans now to join us Feb. 2-3 at the Sheraton Boston Hotel in downtown Boston for two days of engaging and thought-provoking sessions. For a complete
list of sessions, more information and registration, visit the 2009 New England Regional
Forum Web site.
From your staff in the New England Regional Office, we wish you a happy and healthy
holiday season.
