College Board to Release Annual Reports on College Tuition and Financial Aid
On Oct. 29, the College Board will release its annual data on trends in college pricing and student financial aid, including a new online tool with expanded data. “Trends in College Pricing 2008” will provide trend data on tuition, including variation by region and sector of higher education, and on the net prices students and families actually pay after taking financial aid into consideration. It includes information on both in-state and out-of-state charges at public four-year institutions, and tuition and fees at public two-year colleges, not-for-profit private four-year colleges and universities, and for-profit institutions.
Among the new topics covered this year are:
- The comparison of average charges at doctorate-granting, master’s and baccalaureate institutions;
- Growth over time in educational costs at different kinds
of institutions;
- Average educational subsidies at different kinds
of institutions;
- Differences in endowment holdings by kind of institution;
- Changing patterns of family incomes; and
- Changes over time in enrollment in and degrees awarded by public, private, not-for-profit and for-profit institutions.
The College Board will also release data on all forms of student financial aid from federal and state governments, institutions and other sources, as well as trend data on loans from nonfederal sources. Other discussion topics will include:
- Proportion of students taking out subsidized and/or unsubsidized Stafford Loans;
- Need-based, athletic and other non-need-based institutional grant aid at public and private
four-year institutions;
- Comparisons of institutional grant aid at higher-priced
and lower-priced private institutions; and
- Estimates of total debt of recent graduates of public, private, not-for-profit and for-profit four-year colleges
and universities.
The reports and interactive online tool will be available after
11 a.m. on Oct. 29 on the College Board Web site.
