Counselor Resource Center Debuts on collegeboard.com

It’s back-to-school time for high school counselors, and many are already gearing up for an important fall ritual: college planning nights. With only a few hours or less to guide students and parents through the entire admissions process — from application to acceptance — counselors are often looking for new and innovative ways to organize and plan their presentations. To help address this need, the College Board has developed a one-stop online Counselor Resource Center that will help counselors communicate with students and their families about all aspects of the college admissions process.

The center includes a comprehensive college planning PowerPoint presentation that counselors can download free of charge and use as part of their college planning nights. The presentation will cover a variety of topics within four main categories: college admissions factors, understanding the SAT®, exploring colleges and financial planning. The slides will also be available to print and are designed to fit a one-hour presentation time.

Counselors will also be able to access supporting materials: an in-depth presenter’s guide providing detailed notes and information, and a group of printable handouts for students and parents. Taken together, these elements demonstrate the College Board’s continued commitment to support counselors in their efforts to provide accurate information and sound advice about the college planning process.
