The College Board's Forum 2008, to be held Nov. 5-8 in Houston, Texas, is the one conference that brings together the full spectrum of educators committed to helping students prepare for and graduate from college. This year’s speakers and honorees will include: Arizona State University President Michael Crow; author and essayist Richard Rodriguez; Bud Selig, commissioner of Major League Baseball; Bill White, mayor of Houston; and Abelardo Saavedra, superintendent of schools for the Houston Independent School District. Sessions, workshops and special events will explore issues of advocacy, equal access to higher education and student preparation.

Entitled “Education First: Our Future Depends On It,” Forum 2008 will feature the College Board’s member-led advocacy initiatives, including the Rethinking Student Aid study group, the Commission on Access, Admissions and Success in Higher Education, and the Task Force on Admissions in the 21st Century.

Participants will also attend a screening of the film “The Great Debaters,” as the College Board honors the achievements of Wiley College and student debaters throughout the nation with actors from the film.

Other highlights include more than 100 break-out sessions, classroom round tables focused on teaching strategies, the College Fair, AP® workshops and the opportunity to earn continuing education units.

Attendees who register by Oct. 3 will save $75 off the registration fee. In an effort to help educators with limited budgets for professional development, the College Board has not increased Forum registration fees for the second consecutive year. There are also discounts for group registrations. Click here to learn more and register.
