The College Board’s 14th Latin American Conference will meet March 24–27 in Morelia, Mexico. Participants will discuss the education and competency-based evaluation.

"The issue of competencies has assumed a leading role in national and institutional educational plans," said Janning Estrada, executive director in the College Board's Puerto Rico & Latin America Office. "The College Board’s Latin American Conference provides a forum for intensive dialogue with colleagues from different countries of Latin America, and focuses on finding strategies and solutions to common problems."

"In previous years, the Latin American Conference has been defined as a meeting to discuss and reflect on important aspects of education in our countries," Estrada added. "This conference allows teachers, researchers, counselors, admission officers and directors to examine educational theories and practices that promise to help strengthen the excellence we all seek in our schools and universities."

The Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education), one of the most prestigious universities in Mexico and Latin America, will host the conference on its Morelia campus and has planned several social activities. Morelia is a beautiful city with spectacular colonial architecture, and it was declared a World Heritage Site in 1991 by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
