As the College Board’s Board of Trustees searches for a new president, it continues to solicit opinions and recommendations from both members and staff.
Board of Trustees’ Chair Paul Sechrist has said the organization must find a leader with a passion and vision for education equal to that of current President Gaston Caperton, who is retiring in June. The next president must not only be familiar with critical issues, but also “embody certain intangible qualities, including authenticity, accessibility, vision and passion,” Sechrist said. “The Board seeks a president that will build on the successful legacy of the College Board and lead us into the future.”During national and regional council meetings and at special sessions at the Forum this fall, members have been invited to offer ideas and suggestions to the search committee.
“What we are doing is unprecedented in the history of the College Board,” said Board of Trustees Vice Chair Maghan Keita. “We are engaging our members in the important task of choosing the next CEO of the most important educational organization in the country.”
The College Board has enlisted the search firm of Isaacson, Miller to help with finding the next president. To learn more about the search process or offer suggestions for candidates, go to www.imsearch.com and look for “The College Board” under the list of current searches.
The search committee will continue to review the names and materials of potential candidates, and initial interviews will begin early in January.
